“I cried not because the movie was sad, but because I'm just so happy to love a movie this much” – Quentin Tarantino
"Chungking Express" is yet another one of Wong Kar-Wai’s fantastic films. This is a big statement for me but I will make it: He is my favorite director. His films are stylistic and colorful. The music is unforgettable and inseparable from his films once you have watched them. The relationships in his films feel authentic, and by that I mean the relationships the characters have with themselves and then with one another.
Most importantly, the interactions between the characters – the verbal exchanges, the glances or stares, the silences, the way in which loneliness is depicted is so real, it’s heartbreaking. “Chungking Express” is worth every second. And there’s something to be said when Tarantino falls in love with a film.
