The vampiric end of “Only lovers left alive”. Yasmine Hamdan – Hal

Imminent death cannot curb their taste for life.

There is a moment in Only lovers left alive where the main protagonists, afraid of impending death, instead of taking those last moments to save their lives, stop to listen to this song. In fact, the performance is so unique, her singing so spontaneously visceral that ignoring it would mean turning one's back on life.

In an interview, Yasmine Hamdan describes the process of singing:

"I fall in love with the song. It is usually many times the singer that caries some emotion or something that becomes very personal. I start having a personal relationship with the song. Then I start feeling that I have the desire to sing it and to try things on it. So I take the freedom to reshape it.”
